The family history of Jane Towle vom Saal

Ellingwood H. Towle (1893 – 1950)

Ellingwood Hubbard Towle was my mother’s father. He and his brother went to France where he served as an ambulance driver in World War I before the United States entered the war. He was an inventor who had several patents, including some for landing gear for World War I planes. None of them were successfully sold and produced, but we have copies of them that are shown in the link above. Ellingwood was married to Charlotte Talmadge Towle and they had four children, but they were later divorced. He died when I was young.

Charlotte Talmadge Towle (1898 – 1952)

Charlotte Talmadge Towle was my mother’s mother. She was married to Ellingwood Hubbard Towle. My mother was the third of her four children. She was divorced from Ellingwood in 1935(?), and later married George Baut.

James E. Towle (1927 – 1951)

“Uncle Jimmy” was my mother’s younger brother. He was a pilot killed in the Korean war. She was very close to him and his loss was a source of sadness to her throughout her life. We have some letters and documents regarding his life and death.

Towle genealogy

My mother’s father is 10th generation descendant of John and Priscilla Alden, who came to the United States on the Mayflower in 1620. So for my grandchildren, some math: you are the 14th generation. John and Priscilla Alden are your great-great … (12 times) grandparents. You have two parents, four great grandparents, 8 g-g-grandparents, etc …. and John and Priscilla Alden are just two of your 8,192 g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g grandparents. Congratulations!
